Transformers 2: Movie Review

Sat Jun 27, 2009, 10:22 AM

So I went and saw Transformers 2 last night. Now, before I get into my thoughts of the movie and such, let me say this: I never saw the cartoons. Never played with toys. Not a huge Transformers fan. I loved the first movie, though.

Every time I go into a theater to see a movie, I walk in with a 5 star opinion of the move. If I like what I see, it may keep it's 5 stars, depending on actor performance, composition of the shots, writing and content. That said, here's my final rating, and I'll say why in a moment. And I'll try to make this as spoiler-less as humanly possible.

:star::star::star-half::star-empty::star-empty:
3 an' a half. Not bad, all things considering.

"Why," you ask? Well, for starters, what killed those two and a half stars was one thing: The fantastically annoying sexual jokes that I didn't find funny. And the group I was with didn't find it funny either. One or two subtle jokes is fine, but there were things that I just did not need to see (or hear).

I'm scarred for life I tell you! LIFE!

Aside from that, the only things that kept the rating as it was, was the music Score (by Steve Jablonsky and Linkin Park) in addition to the Soundtrack that had music from Linkin Park, Greenday, Taking Back Sunday, the Fray, Nickelback, The All-American Rejects, Hoobastank, and Stained (just to name the bands ones I recognized). Another plus was the actors performance (which I found believable) and shots (which were well placed) as well as the CGI FX (which were done with an amp'd up version of Maya and 3ds Max. So my friend says who is working to become CGI animator, and he's pretty good thus far.)

So. Would I got see it again? Probably not.
Would I go buy it on DVD? Most likely no.
Would I watch it if I came on TV for free (not Pay-per-view)? Probably.

No, don't let my opinion turn you off from going to see it. It was a very good movie (Terminator Salvation and Star Trek still holds first place for me), and you are entitled to your own views of the film, this is just mine.

That said, it's worth 6.50 for a ticket but I wouldn't go see it in IMAX, like I had originally wanted.

Ugh, same here. I just saw the movie, and those stupid sexual references killed it for me. True, they were funny, but in a bad, "I didn't need to hear that" sort of way. It was like "Don't mess with the Zohan (a really bad movie)" but with giant robots. The fact that it was so long and that I could barely follow the plot didn't help either. And those two twin robots were just annoying.

I'll just stick with the first one.

Tristan: Duke, no matter what happens to us, I want you to remember one thing: in another few hours, the sun will rise.
Duke: What the f@#& does that mean?!
Tristan: I don't know but it's true!

I'm right and you're wrong. The Holy Muffin said so. :spork:

The length was too much for me as well. The only movies I've seen that are near as long, or longer, and was good - is the Star Wars saga. I think Micheal Bay is a George Lucas wannabe. xB j/k

The first movie still pwns.

What the quack?

No trees were harmed in the writing of the comment; however, a significant number of electrons were slightly inconvenienced.

Agreed. I saw the movie Friday, and the first one was awesome. I think the plot was good, and the actors. But all that crapt that went on just annoyed the crud out of me. Yes, it was funny and good, but I mean some of it just got out of head. I think they tried way to hard to make it as good as the first one, and even tried to add to much humor which was what completely killed it on a whole new level.
